Queen Charlotte gets a Bridgerton Spin-Off Series

By Lori Perkins

I know we were all disappointed to learn that delicious Regé-Jean Page, who played Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings in Netflix’s Bridgeton series, will not be returning in the second season, but the news that Netflix has signed to an entire new series with Golda Rosheuvel who played Queen Charlotte in the first series is exiting, and somewhat unexpected.

The new series will be written by Shonda Rhimes and will also feature the adventures of a young Violet Bridgerton (the Bridgerton mother) and a young Lady Danbury, the Duke’s guardian. According to a press release the character of Queen Charlotte (who is the wife of King George) was added to the Bridgerton universe for the Netflix series, based on the Julia Quinn novels.

Netflix has already renewed Bridgerton for three additional seasons, which will follow author Julia Quinn's novels that focused on the romantic pursuits of a different Bridgerton sibling in each volume.

Bridgerton was Netflix’s biggest series debut series in its history.
