Author JB Miller to Discuss Duch at Housing Works Bookstore Café

Join London-based author JB Miller, visiting New York, for an evening of literary conversation celebrating Duch, the provocative, witty and poignant novel that imagines an alternate reality in which Princess Diana survived and quietly returned to Paris.
The event will take place Wednesday, November 18, at 5:30 p.m. at New York’s Housing Works Bookstore Café, 126 Crosby St. Miller will read from Duch, participate in an author Q&A and sign copies of the book.
Set over a whirlwind three weeks in contemporary Paris and London, Duch opens with the discovery of a mysterious silver-haired woman in her sixties wandering outside a Paris hospital. She has lost her memory, wears a locket containing photographs of William and Harry, speaks with the unmistakable cadence of a Windsor—and insists her name is Diana.
The premise takes on an intriguing added dimension in light of Prince Harry’s observation in his memoir, Spare: “At this very moment she's undoubtedly renting an apartment in Paris.”
Known for biting wit and tender insight, Miller blends humor, social satire and emotional depth in a story that explores grief, identity, power and the enduring mythology surrounding Diana. The novel also examines celebrity, public perception and the stories society chooses to believe in an increasingly post-truth world.
Duch has earned high praise from Jennifer Clement, author of Widow Basquiat and President Emerita of PEN International.
“Duch has pathos, joy and humor… It takes a masterful writer to create this complex and beautiful dream, and Miller is a master!” Clement says.
The November 18 event offers readers an opportunity to meet Miller, hear the story in his own words, ask questions about the novel and take home a signed copy.
