New Year’s Propositions

I have been making New Year’s Resolutions for decades, and they are more or less the same – lose weight, exercise more, save more money, make more money, and a list of things I want to do.


This doesn’t work.


Four years ago I survived a stage 3 cancer battle, and coming out of recovery I realized that what I wanted to do going forward was find more joy, and specially, FIND MY JOY.


So I started making New Year’s Propositions – proposals to make my life more joyful.


Here are mine for 2026.  I hope they inspire you!


  1. Focus on more joy in my life

  2. Catch up on binging new Star Trek

  3. Take up guitar again

  4. Improve the tech in my life so I can listen to audiobooks and music

  5. More music

  6. Rekindle my inner generosity

  7. Focus more on myself and what I want/need

  8. Have more dinner parties

  9. Wallow in sleep at least once a week

  10. Say “no” joyfully.
