Best Coffee Shops in NYC to Get Shit Done

By Bella Cannizzo

My semester just ended! YAY! In the chaos of finals, I found myself wanting to escape campus to study and write papers. The library and local spots were getting a little redundant. And honestly, it was too crowded with students. So, my friends and I ventured into the city in search of great coffee shops where we could sip a refreshing iced latte, plug in our headphones, and focus.

Each trip followed the same pattern: we’d research coffee shops that promised good vibes, tasty treats, and a solid work environment. And every time, we left a little disappointed. Because of the lack of space, limited menus, or overwhelming noise.

I decided to help both myself and anyone else in the same boat. Here’s a list of coffee shops in New York City where you can actually get work done without compromising on comfort, coffee, or a solid Wi-Fi connection

  1. Charlotte’s Cafe

605 2nd Ave, New York

I went here early in the semester and loved it. I had a lavender latte and a lemon bar, while my friend ordered a matcha latte and a crème brûlée. (she still talks about that crème brûlée to this day) The baristas were super friendly and the tables were big enough for a laptop, notebook, and coffee without feeling cramped.

  1. Hungry Llama

679 Washington St, New York

This one is a personal favorite, my go-to spot. It can get a little busy, but there are plenty of tables and chairs to go around. The lattes come topped with homemade whipped cream. The West Village location means you can take a beautiful walk once you’re ready for a screen break.

  1. The Lost Draft

398 Broome St, New York

I haven’t been here in person yet, but it came highly recommended by a close friend whose taste I trust. Apparently, their coffee is low-key famous, and the space is big and easy to focus in. This one is next on my list.

  1. Buunni Coffee

4300 Broadway, New York

This is just one of several Buunni Coffee locations, but this specific spot has incredible seating. They have communal tables perfect for group work or solo focus. The hot lattes are absolutely to die for. Definitely worth the trip uptown.
