The Advantages of Age, the social enterprise co-founded by Suzanne Noble and Rose Rouse, had their inaugural Awards Ceremony on Thursday, November 23rd at the wonderful Victorian music hall Hoxton Hall in London.

The goal of both the organization and the awards ceremony was to celebrate pro-aging organizations and individuals who are doing work in different parts of the UK. And the style of the evening was full on flamboyance.

There were fantastic stories from the winners that included such categories Death Advocate and Rock ‘n'roll Artist with the Most Glorious Getting Older Attitude. The former was won by the Coffin Club, an organization that promotes talking about death, while the latter category was shared by winners Patti Smith and Grace Jones.

It was a fun, flamboyant and serious event. The recently published book, Sex, Death and Other Inspiring Stories: Advantages of Age Handbook to Growing Older Funkily, based on the essays collected by the organization, was on hand for purchase that evening and selling like hot cakes. advantagesofage.com
