Pride 2020 Weekend (June 27th-28th)

As we’ve promised here at Romance Daily News, we want to make sure you have all the information you need to celebrate Pride this year. We’ve written about what Pride might entail this year given the current circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic pressing on. Now, we bring to you more details on a livestream for Gay Pride TODAY.

For today, June 27th, world leaders, human rights activists, musicians and drag queens will be coming together to host a 24-hour online celebration of gay pride. There are many planned appearances for this year’s event including world leaders such as: Prime Minister Erna Solberg of Norway and Prime Minister Xavier Bettel of Luxembourg and Mavendra Singh Gohil, the first openly gay prince of India.

For musical performances, they will have: Olivia Newton-John, Deborah Cox, Thelma Houston and Ava Max. Along with the Chicks (formerly known as the Dixie chicks), Bright Light Bright Light, and Steve Grand.

And then for the drag queens there will be Pabllo Vittar, the famous Courtney Act.

The virtual event will be hosted on Youtube and the Global Pride Website.

But why stop there? After indulging and celebrating in a 24-hour livestream of Pride, head over to ABC7, where another set of amazing host and musical performers will be celebrating the true spirit of Pride, where famous names such as Dan Levy, Janelle Monáe, Billy Porter and Carson Kressley and a whole lot more will be making an appearance.

Although Pride has moved to the virtual screen for this year, there’s no doubt that the spirit of Pride is stronger than ever. With the move to virtual, everyone can participate in Pride by tuning in at any time to any of their favorite performers and musicians. Even better, as Julian Sanjivan says, “This means people who aren’t out, or who are living in socially conservative countries, can take part.”

Even better, hopefully major corporations, who have largely been complicit to larger injustices for the sake of profit donning their rainbow colors just for the month of June to prioritize and commercialize pride month will take to the sidelines to see how true Pride is done.
