Just in Time for NYCC, Louboutin Marvel Shoes and Comic Book

By Lori Perkins

You probably hadn’t even thought you wanted these, until you saw them, but who wouldn’t want to have super hero heels with those signature red soles?

Marvel and Christian Louboutin collaborated on a shoe and accessories line within the Marvel Universe, as well as a comic book introducing a Super Hero based on — and co-created by — Christian Louboutin himself.

The collection features a number of designs with Marvel’s Infinity Stones, which are embedded within the heels of the shoes for both men and women. There is also an Infinity Stones evening bag.

The relationship between Disney and Louboutin started more than 25 years ago when the designer created several styles for the 1979 101 Dalmatians film which starred his friend Glenn Close. In 2012, Louboutin designed his own version of the iconic Cinderella glass slipper for Disney. He also worked on Miss Piggy’s clothing for The Muppets, as well as Maleficent and Star Wars.

According to a press release, the comic book, which is set in Egypt, features a quest led by an archaeologist Super Hero, which was based on the designer and his North African heritage. “I’ve always been fascinated by very visual stories, with lots of mysteries and action. As a child, I had a deep passion for Egyptian gods and pharaohs, but as a teenager, I found that expression through Marvel characters,” he said. The comic book includes many Marvel characters including Black Widow, Shuri, Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers.

The designer added, “There is something about the Marvel mythology, its chronology and recurring characters going through epic adventures, dramas and intrigues, all spiced up with superpowers that really resonates with me!”
