I am getting a kick out of this new line of Barbies – as an adult. Not sure if I’d want a Jane Goodall doll- the environmental activist and biologist – if I was a kid now, although she comes with some very cool add-ons.

Mattel honors Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace, with a collectible doll joined by chimpanzee David Greybeard. The pony-tailed blonde Goodall doll is dressed in field attire and comes with a pair of binoculars and a notebook.

Mattel has paired up with The Goodall Institute to encourage girls to explore fields in nature and biology in an online program titled Roots and Shoots. Here is a link to that project, https://www.rootsandshoots.org/naturally-curious-jane/

The Jane Goodall Barbie® doll is the first in the Inspiring Women™ Series to be made from recycled materials.

The Barbie® Inspiring Women™ Series “pays tribute to incredible heroines of their time; courageous women who took risks, changed rules and paved the way for generations of girls to dream bigger than ever before.”

Other recent Inspiring Women in the series include Ida B. Wells, Maya Angelou, Queen Elizabeth and Ella Fitzgerald.
