Harry Styles Wrote A Song about Olivia WildeAnd Fans are Thrilled….Jealous?

By Lori Perkins

A new video for Harry Styles song “As It Was” was released yesterday featuring Styles’ prancing around in a red glitter two-piece bell-bottom suit and/or a red wool coat, and later just a red pair of shorts, but the thing that stood out most for his very passionate fans who have not had a new release from the music star in two years was that this song is obviously about his new paramour, actor/director Olivia Wilde. The very catchy synth pop tune, which is reminiscent of 80’s pop, opens with a child saying “C’mon Harry, we want to see goodnight to you!” and fans question if that voice belongs to one of Wilde’s kids.

Other lyrics also seem to invoke his relationship with Wilde, such as, “Go home, get ahead, light-speed internet I don't wanna talk about the way that it was Leave America, two kids follow her I don't wanna talk about who's doin' it first” which they interpret to be about Olivia Wilde leaving her husband Jason Sudakis.

But it’s actually quite a beautiful, empowering song with lyrics like “embracing change, losing oneself and finding oneself again,” and “in this world it's just us, you know it's not the same as it was.”

And the world agrees, because not even 12 hours after the song dropped it is already number one on US iTunes.

Styles will release his sixth album, titles Harry’s House on May 20th.
