Some Suggestions for Galentine’s Day Gifts

Rosebox NYC

I think Galentine’s Day is one of the most important days of the year for me, and gets more important as I get older and appreciate my female friends even more. I would not be who I am without my besties, who have been there for me in ways family and lovers just can’t, or won’t.

Here are some of suggestions for gifts for the women in your life who make your life better, and know you in that true, authentic way.

I’ll be blunt. My first choice is the new Lioness vibrator. Every woman needs a dependable vibrator (you can quote me on that), and if the last one you bought was when you were still watching Sex and the City on HBO, it’s time for an upgrade. Vibrators have come a long way since that Rabbit. The Lioness is a biologically engineered vibrator designed by women for women that tracks your orgasm and helps you improve your satisfaction with biofeedback and reports. Here’s a link. https://lioness.io/products/the-lioness-vibrator. Buy one for yourself, and one for all your friends. Seriously. It’s also ideal for the post-menopausal woman (I’ll be doing an article about that after Valentine’s Day, but read this article and imagine how it can help improve the sex drive of older women, https://blog.lioness.io/i-had-the-best-orgasm-with-weed-lube-and-i-have-data-to-prove-it-a8d7f4806343).

At RDN, we’ve received a number of press releases this year about roses that last a year, and I have to tell you, a real rose that lasts a year would be a lovely gift from a friend. Here’s a link to two of the companies who offer this product, https://roseboxnyc.com/ and https://saayarose.com/, where there’s a coupon. I do love these.

I consider my gal pals to be really fabulous, tough women, and I have to say that this awesome company, OneToughB, has jewelry and jean jackets that feature the words She Knew She Could or One Tough Bitch that I feel really expresses how we feel at this moment in time. In addition, money raised through the sales of these products goes to an educational fund, so it feels good to buy, wear and support other women. Here’s the press release info on the company. “One Tough Bitch is not only a brand, it's a movement. By recognizing the unique emotional challenges all women face, One Tough Bitch offers a tangible reminder of inner strength and honors a woman's bravery in the face of adversity (grief, illness, divorce, etc.). This accessory line is the perfect gift for anyone needing support, to give them something to grab and hold onto on their good and bad days. The symbol featured on the One Tough Bitch accessory line is a triangle with an upward facing point representing the mind, body and soul; the inner strength of each woman wearing it.” I love it. And last, but never least, are books. Who doesn’t love books? There’s a new collection of women’s classics that is being published by Gibbs Smith in a Women’s Voices series re-issuing Mary Wollstonecraft’s Feminist Papers: A Vindication of the Rights of Women (written in 1792!!!!), Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre and Emily Dickinson’s Hope is the Things with Feathers.

The editor of the series explained why they were publishing these editions at this time. “We hope readers will re-familiarize themselves with these classics, written by women whose voices remain refreshingly relevant to the modern world. We intentionally chose a mix of genres (fiction, poetry, political essays) to connect with every kind of reader, and hope that this series challenges and inspires twenty-first century women.” The books are beautiful.

I do hope this list inspires you to buy your friends these thoughtful, lovely gifts, and if anyone wants to send me some, you know where to find me!

Happy Galentine’s Day!
