This Year’s Crop of “Interesting” Easter Candy

By Lori Perkins

I believe you’ve already seen the Pepsi-flavored Peeps. But, wait, there’s more!

This year, there’s M&M’s White Chocolate Marshmallow Crispy Treat, inspired by the popular rice crispy desserts. The new flavor features a crunchy/sweet crispy rice center coated with white chocolate in varying pastel-colored candy shells.

Mars, the manufacturer of M&M’s, also produced Dove milk and dark chocolate bunnies, as well as egg-shaped chocolates for the season.

Skittles are offering us both jellybeans and Starburst Original jellybeans.

Additional M&M’s products this season also include Minis Milk Chocolate Candy Easter Tubes and M&M’s Milk Chocolate Easter Canes, as well as M&M’s Pastel Milk Chocolate and Peanut Candies.

According to Good Morning America, the Easter season is a huge time for candy consumption, generating over $5 billion in sales in 2022 according to the National Confectioners Association.

But some sad news as well. Butterfinger confirmed that it discontinued its much-loved Nest Eggs product, but Reece’s peanut butter/chocolate eggs and carrots are still on sale, as well as many permutations of Peeps (which now also comes in a Dr. Pepper flavor). If you go to the website, there’s even a video for making a Peeps cake. https://www.peepsbrand.com/
