Thinking they might follow in the Barbie footsteps, the doll toy brand Bratz has decided to release celebrity editions of their dolls and has announced that the first one will be based on Kylie Jenner.
I don’t know about you, but I’d be less than thrilled if this was a doll that my kid wanted. Let’s not forget that Barbie started extending her reign with astronaut and doctor and teacher Barbie. The first celebrity Barbie was 60’s model Twiggy.
Bratz described celebrity Kylie Jenner as” the embodiment of what its dolls have stood for since their debut over two decades ago,” calling her “disruptive and rebellious to energetic and expressive.”
Kylie Jenner has been compared to a Bratz doll for years by her fans and her own family.
The newly launched collection includes six minidolls inspired by some of Jenner’s red carpet looks, in a mostly purple and lavender hue.
Bratz toy fans expressed dismay on social media that the first Bratz celebrity doll would be based on a white woman, especially since the toy line represents a more BIPOC audience.
