I Love Galantine’s Day

As many of you know by now, I LOVE Galentine’s Day.

What I once thought of it as a made-up holiday from Amy Poehler’s character Leslie Knope on Parks & Recreation is now one of my favorites is now one of my favorite, and cherished, holidays.

What’s Galentine’s Day you ask?  In the words of Leslie Knope, “Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast- style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.” For me, it’s like Seinfeld‘s George Costanza’s Festivus for the rest of us.

This year, I am joining friends for a showing of Blythe Spirit with champagne and macaroons.

Last year a group of us got together to watch the latest Bridgeton series while eating waffles piled high with whipped cream (the suggested Galantine’s meal on Parks and Rec).

But Galentine’s Day is really about getting together with your gal pals and celebrating the joy of female friendship, which I need more than ever this year .

xoxo
