Rap icon Nicki Minaj, 37, gave birth to her first child on Wednesday in Los Angeles. She announced her marriage to a childhood friend, Kenneth Petty, 42, last year, who had just recently been released from prison.
Minaj has been fairly low key about her pregnancy, only announcing the impending birth in July with a series of glam shots of her baby bump on Instagram with the word “Preggers.” One of the photos was captioned, "Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes."
When she married last year, she said that she was hoping to step back from her music making life and begin a family.
Minaj has not yet announced the sex or name of her baby.
