Stonewall Inn Hosts Celebration of TCS NY Marathon as LGBTQ+ Safe Space

A ceremony was held at the landmark Stonewall Inn on November 4th to specially recognize NY Road Runner’s inclusion efforts among the LGBTQ+ community. The TCS New York City Marathon was named a Safe Space by the historic Stonewall Inn, making it the first sporting event to be declared so.


NYRR executives and professional athletes from the LGBTQ+ community were present, as well as Riverdale Avenue Books’ editor Maitland McDonagh representing RAB’s 120 Days imprint and accompanying VitangeGayBooks.Substack.com. Pictured are McDonagh and with two of the four Inn co-owners: bartender Kurt Kelly and foundation CEO Stacy Lentz. Also, Ricky Shroeder from Off-Broadway’s Kinky Boots.


The TCS New York City marathon is held on Sunday, November 5th where 5,000 runners will compete to in a 26.2 mille run to cross the finish line.
