The Amazing Race’s 32nd Season Proposal

By David T. Valentin

Love was in the air last night on CBS hit show, The Amazing Race’s 32nd season finale when contestant James Wallington got down on one knee to propose to his boyfriend and teammate on the show, Will Jardell.

Throughout the season, the couple had coasted to an easy victory for the 32nd season of The Amazing Race with many fans not at all surprised at the couples’ win. Their victory marked a milestone in James’ life who had told CBS that the accomplishment he’s most proud of is “Living out my dream of competing on The Amazing Race,” ever since he was 12 years old.

The final challenge for the couple came in the form of “collecting a bunch of beaded necklaces during a Mardi Gras Parade In New Orleans, join a band to travel to a bakery, destroy king cakes in an attempt to find the baby figurine baked inside, scarf down half a dozen beignets each, swing from a bridge over the Mississippi River to grab a clue, roll a giant ball to Mardi Gras World, prepare it for a float, and then charge into the Superdome.”

Luckily for the couple, their opponents, Riley and Maddison McKibbin and then Hung Nguyen and Chee Lee, were far behind the couple, which allowed James and Will to make a few mistakes and still win.

After a brief interview with the two out of breath men by show host Phil Keoghan, James pulled the ring from his Fanny pack, got down on one knee and proposed. Although Will was out of breath, he was able to muster the energy to say a resounding “yes.”
