Turns out, the rumors were true. Bad girl Rihana has released her single, Lift Me Up, for the premiere of Wakanda Forever, the second Black Panther film.
It has been six years since the singer last debuted in her own solo song and her last album Anti.
The song Lift me Up was written by Tems, Ludwig Goransson, Rihanna, and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.
According to Tems, the song was written to honor not only Chadwick Boseman, the late Black Panther who lost his battle to cancer in 2020, but to all those the songwriter lost.
According to Variety, Tem said, “After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all people that I’ve lost in life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them.”
