Offbeat Mother’s Day Gifts

By Lori Perkins

I LOVE getting and giving quirky presents that are not like everyone else’s, so the stream of email blasts from giant retailers usually has no appeal for me.

One of the best things you can get your mom is an experience. In New York City, Fever and Netflix have paired up to recreate the regency ball in your favorite historical romance series in the Queen’s Ball: a Bridgerton Experience. The immersive event runs through July, and can cost anywhere from $80 to $125 per ticket, but if you and your mom (or kids) love romance, this is a once-in-a lifetime treat. https://bridgertonexperience.com/new-york/

Right now, Live Nation is having a $25 concert ticket sale throughout the country. Taking mom to a concert to see one of her favorite boomers (Rod Stewart, James Taylor, Robert Plant, Foreigner, Joan Jett and a lot more) would be an awesome gift. The sale runs through May 16th, but these cheap tickets are going fast. https://www.livenation.com/promotion/concertweek

And you all know I loved Kahn! The Musical, the delicious Star Trek parody running for the next month in Greenwich Village. Tickets are $79. Your Mom will love this! https://www.khaniscoming.com/

I have sent gift baskets in the past, but I never know how good the selection is. This year I was sent a sample of Wildgrain, which is a box of frozen bread doughs which included cinnamon rolls (pumpkin for fall), cranberry bread, croissants (the flakiest I’ve ever made at home) sour dough and a few others. You can subscribe monthly for about $90, or just buy when you want (or send as a gift), but this is am amazing gift (feel free to send me one). Wilgrain.com.
