Just when it seems like our world may be closing up again for Lockdown 2.0, Netflix felt sorry for us and gave us four un-announced episodes of the final season of Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin’s older woman’s comedy Grace and Frankie. This is the hilarious sit com about two on-the-surface very different women (and aging hippie and a boss lady) whose husbands leave them for each other who move in together and start a vibrator company for older women! Just fabulous.
These four episodes are only a taste of things to come. The entire final season will be 16 episodes. And I hope that Netflix will dole them out in these bit-sized portions so we don’t have to wait another year, although right now the rest of the season is slated to be released in 2022.
This season’s final 16-episode order has made Grace and Frankie the longest-running Netflix original series ever, with a total of 94 episodes.
In a video released today to announce the four episodes, Jane Fonda explained, "We've missed you, but more importantly, you've missed us," Tomlin says in a video accompanying the release. "We just wanted to give you something special until we finish the rest of the seasons.”
"It was between this and Del Taco giftcards. I wanted to go with the giftcards," Lily Tomlin joked. (Her character is a BIG fan of the California fast-food chain).
