In a time line where nothing seems to really happen in pop culture, I was actually looking forward to People Magazine’s annual hot man declaration (which I used to scoff at when I was a younger woman). Although I am sad to see John Legend give up this crown, I am looking forward to being amused by the antics of Michael B. Jordan, a very hot actor who knows how to speak his mind and take a stand. So good choice.
Jordan, 33, came to our attention in Fruitvale Station, and then buffed up as Apollo Creed’s son, but we all really got to know his name when he played the villain in Black Panther. From there he has gone on to star in a number of hits, and is now set to star as a former Navy SEAL-turned-CIA operative in Tom Clancy's Without Remorse.
Jordan’s film production company, Outlier Society Productions, was the first to adopt an inclusion rider, which mandates that filmmakers enlist a diverse cast and crew. The actor has been active in the Black Lives Movement and vocal in year's election.
When asked his thoughts about being named Sexiest Man Alive 2020, Jordan said that the women in his family "are definitely proud of this one," he says. "When my grandmother was alive, it was something that she collected, and then my mom naturally reads it a lot and my aunts as well. This is one that they’re definitely going to have a special place for."
