Cinco De Mayo Virtual Celebrations

All of us at Romance Daily News would like to wish you ALL a happy Cinco de Mayo day, or the fifth of May. But although many Americans celebrate Cinco de Mayo, they don’t actually know what the holiday means, often mistaking it for Mexican Independence Day. So what is Cinco de Mayo?

According to the History channel website, history.com, “Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican Army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. The day, which falls on Tuesday, May 5 in 2020, is also known as Battle of Puebla Day. While it is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations.”

So how can we celebrate? Well, despite the holiday being a largely social event that, for some, involve lots of drinking, we luckily can do all that from the comfort of our home. Here are three drinking games you can play virtually from the comfort of your home.

The first one up is a virtual beer pong. This one’s a bit simple to set up, as long as everyone has ten cups and a webcam. Just set up ten cups in front of your laptop at the end of a table. Then all you need is zoom and a few friends and you’re good to go.

Our second game up is some good old Jackbox, a favorite of college-aged students. All you need to do is have one person own the game and then stream it. The game can be purchased on PC, Mac, Playstation, Xbox, or switch. Once one player has purchased the app they can then screenshare their laptop or stream from their console. Jackbox is having some wicked deals for right now where you can get hilarious games like Quiplash, and trivia murder party.

And then there’s the fun old Netflix Party drinking games where you pick a movie to watch and make some rules. So, for example like American Horror Story: Coven, drink any time Fiona Goode smokes a cigarette, or any starts drinking. This one is a bit rough, for anyone who’s familiar with Coven and the amount of smoking and drinking going on, but you get the picture.

So there you have it, a few drinking games that respect social-distancing protocols.

Editor's Note: And a reminder to all of our readers that the Reedpop Star Wars event Revenge of the Fifth is still going on. Check the website for the schedule.
