As the Coronavirus Pandemic continues to keep our lives on hold, thousands of couples around the globe have been forced to cancel or postpone the day that they have looked forward to their whole lives, their wedding. The wedding industry is a $78 billion business that has been heavily impacted and hurt by the pandemic, which won’t recover until a vaccine is finally found.

According to a study by The Knot, 96% of couples postponed their weddings, with 65% for later in 2020 and the rest undecided or scheduled for 2021. However the virus is no...

So, one of the things I do when I’m getting blue and frustrated due to the inertia that lockdown has placed upon us is find articles about interesting weddings, especially those that are taking place in this time of Coronavirus.

I thought I had hit a gold mine when I found the headline “The Indian Wedding that Stopped Traffic on Fifth Avenue” with the pull quote, “Hordes and hordes of tourists were elbowing our family out of the way to film Tyler on the horse.” As soon as I got to the article, and saw the 16 p...

A British doctor and nurse who had canceled their wedding plans due to the coronavirus pandemic found a way to reschedule their wedding at the hospital where they work.

Jann Tipping, an ER nurse, and Annalan Navaratnam, an acute medical doctor, had planned to get married in August, but had canceled because they feared their family members wouldn’t be able to travel at that time. But the couple were able to have family members from Northern Ireland and Sri Lanka attend because they live-streamed their hospital we...

When Elaine Welteroth, a former Teen Vogue editor and Project Runway judge, and her musician fiancé Jonathan Singletary realized that the carefully planned destination wedding they had dreamed about in the Dominican Republic was not going to take place this spring, the couple decided to keep the date and improvise.

The date 5/10/20 was important to the couple, who has met when they were 12 in church in Northern California and reunited as adults by their church-going mothers. “There was so much symbolism in...

It’s heartbreaking to hear stories of weddings being canceled for the time being ‘til the pandemic settles down and things get a little better, a date completely unknown to experts and common people alike. How unfortunate to know a day you’ve looked forward to since your engagement to the one you love has to wait, the wedding you’ve dreamed of since you were young is postponed? Still, love always finds a way.

Take for instance Unsha Bakker, a Muslim bride to be, who had to make the decision to call off her dream wedding to a man she’s compl...

On Thursday, Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order that will allow California couples to obtain their marriage licenses via teleconference as the state has stopped weddings and other large gatherings during the pandemic.  California residents will also be able to "conduct a ceremony to solemnize the marriage via videoconference, as long as both parties are present, and have at least one witness who can join the live video conference," according to a statement released by the governor’s office. These new laws will be in effect for...

Most of us have relatives or friends who are delaying their weddings due to the uncertainty of when, and if, we will ever be able to congregate again.  I think it’s safe to say that most June weddings are off this year.

But so are a lot of celebrity weddings, and somehow, that makes me feel like, yes, they are just like us.

First on the list of cancelled weddings are Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, who just announced the coming birth of their first child right at the beginning of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Actress Emma Stone and Dave McCary, an...

Like a scene out of a contemporary retelling of West Side Story, two Washington Heights lesbians had a curbside wedding ceremony as the officiator performed the vows from a fourth floor window and a handful of fellow New Yorkers watched from a distance.

It was all, thankfully, captured on camera, and later on posted in social media.

The backstory to this amazing wedding spectacle is a little heart-breaking. According to New York Magazine, Reilley Jennings and Amanda Wheeler were worried that the coronavirus pandemic would dash their fall wedd...

The daughter of beloved Australian zoologist Steve Irwin, nicknamed “The Crocodile Hunter” (who was killed by a sting ray in 2006) married in an intimate private ceremony in her grandparents’ private zoo in Queensland on March 23rd.  Despite the fact that she was only 7 when her father died, 21 year-old Bindi has followed in her father’s footsteps sharing his passion for animals and has become a wildlife expert.

The couple married in the gardens of Australia Zoo in Queensland, which was opened by her grandparents in the 1970s and is still ru...

Amanda Knox, who spent four years in an Italian prison after being charged with the murder of her college roommate, married Christopher Robinson on leap year day in a space-themed wedding at the Elks Lodge in Burien, Washington.

About 100 guests attended the renaissance and space-themed wedding and were encouraged to wear either medieval attire or Star Wars garb. E News reported that the bride wore a combination of both themes, with her hair in Princess Leia buns and a yellow satin medieval gown.

We know that the stock market is crashing, and Japan has just about shut down, but other fall-out from the pandemic has resulted in chaos as Chinese products slow down and markets close.  Just think about how this global shut down has impacted the wedding industry.

According to a recent CNN business report, rock lobsters along the western Australian coast are waiting in their tanks for consumers, as their main market remains all but closed.

Since China is the leading supplier of wedding gowns, many brides throughout the world may find they c...

While some couples have given in to the lire of Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and, yes, even McDonald’s themed weddings, less dramatic couples are looking to spice up their ceremony on a smaller level than donning wizard robes or Winterfell styled dresses and tuxes.

And Converse has just the solution, with their new Wedding Shoe Collection designed specifically for brides who HATE high heels. And let’s be real, it’s more practical. Walking down the aisle is stressful and you never really know if a heel is going to break.

Thing’s just aren’...

At sunrise on the last day of January Hailey Moore and Dr. Kristopher Hansen said  “I do” at the Mesa Arch trailhead inside Canyonlands National Park near Moab, Utah as a photographer couple officiated for them, and took their official wedding photos, which are spectacular.  There were no guests.

Jess and Austin Drawhorn, a married team of photographers who are based in Boulder, CO, specialize in what they call adventure elopements. Jess Drawhorn became an ordained minister online through...

Not everything is all sunshine and rainbows around the Valentine’s Day holiday of love. A would-be bridesmaid took to reddit after her soon-to-be-wed friend’s homophobic comments led to multiple members dropping out of the wedding, till eventually the whole wedding was called off.

On February 8th, reddit user Ellis took to reddit seeking advice. In her post, she explained how her friend, Kelly the-soon-to-be-bride, told Ellis that she and her girlfriend Anita were no longer welcome at the wedding. Apparently, Kelly claimed her future in-law...

Rob Walkowiak, 52, and Nikki Bailey, 51, choose their wedding date a year ago partially based on their love of numerology – 02/02/2020 is a palindrome, a number that is the same both back and forth. They also happen to be huge Kansas City Chiefs football fans, but never imagined that a year later, on that day, they would be having the ultimate Super Bowl party in the form of their own Chiefs-themed wedding on the day the Chiefs would win their first Super Bowl in 50 years!

This is the second marriage for both, so they were a little more rela...
