Days after taking office, the newly elected board of directors of the Romance Writers of America issued an apology to Courtney Milan, an author and former board member, who was inappropriately censored in December 2019.  The organization also issued an apology to its membership for the month-long escalating unprofessional behavior that resulted in the entire board of directors and staff quitting in a very public and messy upheaval.

The new board sent out an email notice of apology to all of its members, as well as posted the entire message o...

In the midst of the Coronavirus outbreak in the United States, the Romance Writers of America (RWA) held online elections for a completely new board of directors, including a new president, after the chaotic winter avalanche of bad decisions that resulted in almost all its board members either resigning voluntarily or by force over issues of racism and poor management. The results were announced on March 24th.

Best-selling author Alyssa Day, a former trial lawyer and the author of 45 novels, was elected president unopposed. Addressing her ne...

As a result of the stopping of human activity in developed countries, the European Space Agency has been able to show how nitrogen dioxide has decreased across the planet in time-delayed photography from space.  While this of course won’t solve the impending climate change crisis, we are giving Mother Earth a bit of a break, and the planet appears to be thankful.

In Venice, Italy, the complete lack of gondolas in the canals has allowed fish to return and literally swarm the water.  Dolphins have also returned. The water is crystal clear and...

In the midst of the chaos that is the coronavirus pandemic, families have been forced to say goodbye to loved ones for some time in fear of infecting those who may be vulnerable. That includes family members who may have a medical worker in the family, people who are immunocompromised, and the elderly.

But for one man, Bob from Vernon, Connecticut, coronavirus didn’t stop him from celebrating his 67th wedding anniversary outside his wife’s nursing home in Stafford Springs on Saturday. He brought a sign outside her window that said, “I’ve lo...

So we’re all in home/work isolation which means we’re trying really hard to pay attention to our work, but also checking news and social media every five minutes.  But more than anything else, we want to be distracted and also feel that we are all in this together. And it seems that some of our favorite celebrities have anticipated those needs

Today I found a delightful reading of Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree by the actor Josh Gad who reads it as though he was reading it to his own kids.

John Legend decided to give a free concert online...

While countries including France, Spain and Italy move aggressively to slow down the progression of the coronavirus pandemic, or flattening the curve as officials are saying, the United States is moving at iceberg speed.

Despite Donald Trump’s proclamation that “everything is running smoothly” and that they have everything under control, many members of government have come forward to call Trump out for his lack of poor management.

Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richal Shelby has stated, “It seems to me at the outset that this req...

With the rise of the global coronavirus pandemic, people around the world are taking precautionary steps to slow down the spread of the virus, leading to millions of people stuck inside with family members and significant others.

So what’s there to do?

One of the easiest things to do right now with your significant other is kick up your feet, snuggle together (of course after washing your hands), and do some binge watching on some streaming networks. If you don’t have an account, most do free trials. Though if you need it to last, do it in...

I think we are all coming to the point where we are starting to accept that we may be indoors for a really long time.  With our families. In very tight quarters.

We will need something to inspire and/or distract us, so I think it’s time to start #CoronaWRIMO – the Coronavirus Writing Month where authors are challenged to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days while we isolate ourselves to heal.

There’s already a Twitter #hashtag, but it would be great if the people from National Writer’s Month (NAWRIMO) were able to come onboard and get t...

Thursday, March 12th, was the day where everything you were going to see or do was canceled.  No hockey season, basketball, soccer or baseball, no Broadway and Off-Broadway theater, no Disneyworld, Disneyland or Universal Studios.  All closed.

New York’s Governor decreed that all gatherings of more than 500 people should be canceled.  In California and Washington State, the cut off number is 250.

So some of our favorite romance events have been postponed as a result.

The Book Lovers Con, which was to take place next week in Nashville, ann...
